Antique Painted Silhouette Portrait in Cast Iron Frame – Colonial Revival

Charming hand-painted silhouette portrait of a gentleman, rendered in black paint on card and set in a heavy cast iron oval frame with black and gilt finish. The back retains a partial paper label reading George Spencer Co., Conn., attributed to the George Spencer Company of Connecticut, known for art and framing supplies in the early 20th century.

Era: Early 20th century Colonial Revival (c. 1920s40s)

Frame: Cast iron, black with gilt trim, approx. 4 x 5 inches

Artwork: Painted silhouette on card stock

Condition: Frame shows light age wear. The paper has toning and foxing consistent with age, and there is an area of paper loss in the lower background (see photos). This does not affect the painted silhouette itself and adds to its vintage character.
