Diana Kan learned painting and calligraphy at an early age in Hong Kong and she became a disciple of Zhang Daqian. She moved to New York City in 1949. Her paintings are in the Metropolitan Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Nelson-Atkins Museum, and the National Historical Museum in Taiwan.
