Excellent condition Friedrich Dick polished honing steel. The 10” long hardened steel is used to maintain and hone the fine edge of an already sharp knife. The steel is non-chromium plated stainless hardened to 68 Rockwell C and polished smooth with no grooves, grit, or teeth. Proper application of the extremely hard honing steel applies tremendous force to the damaged edge, burnishing it and creating a micro bevel while removing a microscopic amount of steel. A few swipes of this steel can quickly restore a high quality knife’s keen edge, a process that can be repeated several times before more drastic metal removal using files or stones is required. This saves time and extends the useful life of your expensive knives.
This honing steel is in used, excellent condition. There are some small marks on the front of the high impact handle’s finger guard from use. High quality snap hook included for hanging the steel or attaching a lanyard. 10” steel w/15” overall length. Made in Germany.
