Agapanthus is an evergreen perennial that can be planted in the garden in the warmer parts of the US (zones 8-10). Best grown in containers and protected from winter conditions in more northern locations. Commonly called Lily of the Nile and is actually from South Africa. Produces large flower clusters on tall stalks arising from a mound of strap-shaped leaves. While the blue agapanthus cultivars are more popular, the white makes for a cooling color and focal accent plant in the garden. Plant this pernnial in a location with full sun.
